Cyberpunk Body-horror FPS ‘Voltage High Society’ Launches Version 1.0 on Steam

Platonic Partnership and Coyote Time Publishing are thrilled to announce the 1.0 release of Voltage High Society (VHS), a gritty, first-person “Retro-Puncher” that fuses 90s cyberpunk horror with the exploration-driven depth of a Metroidvania. The title is now available on PC via Steam.

In Voltage High Society, players step into the role of a nameless prisoner who is discarded like trash onto a sprawling island of cybernetic nightmares. To survive, players must do more than fight; they must evolve. The game challenges players to scavenge weapons, unlock reality-bending abilities, and tear through the metal and meat of their captors.

Inspired by the visceral body-horror of the movie Tetsuo: The Iron Man, the bleak atmosphere of Escape From New York, and the Metroid Prime series, VHS delivers a lo-fi analog aesthetic powered by modern development muscle.

Key features:

  • Combat-First Exploration: Experience a unique “Retro-Puncher” combat system that feels heavy, visceral, and rewarding.
  • Body-Horror Metroidvania: Gain new cybernetic upgrades and weapons to unlock new areas on the island.
  • Gritty Analog Aesthetic: Enjoy retro visuals that capture the raw, “shaky-cam” energy of 90s underground cinema, enhanced with modern lighting and effects.
  • The Modder’s Spirit: The game was developed with the spontaneous, “swing hard” philosophy of the early 2000s modding scene.

Game Director Henri Tervapuro began his journey in the trenches of the Half-Life modding community. After a decade of hobbyist work and five years as a professional game designer, VHS marks a return to his roots.

“With VHS, I really want to dig back into that old mod vibe: working spontaneously, swinging hard, and creating things that are genuinely surprising,” says Tervapuro. “Thanks to modern tools and our team’s professional experience, we can cut the overhead and focus entirely on the creative joy. It’s a project with immense potential.”
