After 8 months of community-driven development, independent developer Embers is proud to announce that the co-op puzzle horror title Storebound will officially graduate from Early Access and launch into Version 1.0 on July 16, 2026.
The 1.0 launch marks the arrival of Episodes 5 & 6, bringing the total narrative to six complete chapters that can be braved alone or with up to two friends. Episode 6 stands as the most massive entry in the series, providing a high-stakes climax to the Storebound saga.
In keeping with Embers’ commitment to community-driven development, playtesting for Episodes 5 & 6 will be available before launch for all Early Access players. This pre-release phase will allow the team to iterate on gameplay and narrative based on direct player feedback.
Storebound is a 1-3 player cooperative experience where teamwork and quick thinking are your only tools for survival. Set in a sprawling, accursed megastore that refuses to let its customers leave, players must navigate the dark, solve twisted puzzles, and avoid the “After-Hours Assistance” provided by the mall’s local aberrations.
The finale follows a corporate scientific team dispatched to the Megastore to investigate a surge of inexplicable disappearances. Tasked with decoding the store’s mysteries, these experts venture deeper into its surreal depths than any shopper before them. But will they ever get out?
