Lost Lures, co-op fishing adventure set in the Finnish wilderness, is out today as a free Steam demo. Developer Hatfuls Games and publisher Bonus Stage are launching the demo a few weeks before Steam Next Fest to give players a head start with the game.
Lost Lures is not the usual fishing game. There are no floating icons telling you where the fish are. You read the water, the weather, and the time of day. Fish behave dynamically and fight back based on species and size. The setting is hand-crafted Finnish nature. Lakes, forests, fog, and silence. And bugs.
Lost Lures has been in private playtesting for months. This is the first time the public can try the game.
What’s in the demo
- Fish that fight back: Behavior changes with species, size, time of day and weather. No icons. No QuickTime prompts.
- Co-op fishing for up to 6 players: Drop into a room with friends and fish together. Use the contest timer to run friendly competitions.
- Open Finnish wilderness: Hand-crafted lakes, forests and weather.
- Economic progression: Take orders from local restaurants and private clients. Earn money. Upgrade gear. Unlock new lures and new fishing spots.
- Mosquitoes: Real Finnish summer means real Finnish mosquitoes. There is repellent in the shop if you can afford it.
About the game
Lost Lures is an isometric fishing adventure set in the deep, quiet waters of Finland. Players take on local restaurant and private orders, earn money, upgrade their gear, unlock specialized lures and find untouched fishing spots. Play solo or join friends online.
“Most fishing games are just clicking buttons. We wanted Lost Lures to feel like actual fishing. You watch the water, you read the weather, you try a lure, you fail, you try another one. The demo is the best way to see if that clicks for you. Bring a friend, try the 6-player rooms, and don’t forget the mosquito repellent.” — Matias Tuomela, Game Designer, Hatfuls Games
